The surgeon

Henry Delmar qualified as a plastic and aesthetic surgeon in 1991 and opened his own private practice two years later. Known as Clinique Del Mar, it is based at Villa Sylvana on Boulevard Francis Meilland, in the middle of the Cap. He is a member of the European Board of Plastic Surgeons and has served as president of the French Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (SOFCEP). He is also a member of the international and European societies of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

Writing and design

Dr Delmar has written books on facial rejuvenation, facial anatomy and breast augmentation, and has worked on the design of instruments for endoscopic surgery of the forehead and breast.

A method built on listening

With the philosopher Jean-François Mattéi he developed the D.E.S.I.R.S method and wrote a book about it. The six letters stand for the perceived defect, the emotion it causes, the clinical situation, the imagination behind every wish, time for reflection and, finally, the solution. The idea is simple and humane: the decision should come after understanding, never before it.
