Built for the golden years

In the 1930s Juan-les-Pins was one of the most fashionable places on the Riviera, and in 1931 Alexandre Barache asked Georges Dikansky, one of the great architects of the Côte d'Azur, to build him a hotel facing the pine wood. Juana soon counted the Aga Khan III, Edward VIII and Winston Churchill among its guests.

The jazz years

From the 1960s the hotel became a home for the artists of the Jazz à Juan festival. Picasso and Chagall are part of its legend, and so are Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles, who sometimes carried on playing at the bar late into the night. In 1984 Alain Ducasse made it a landmark of French gastronomy, and in 2006 it joined the Belles Rives Group, led by Marianne Estène-Chauvin.

The hotel today

Juana plays with its Art Deco heritage rather than preserving it under glass. Rooms run from classic doubles to rooms over the pine wood or with terraces, sea-view rooms, family rooms and a 60 m² deluxe suite, alongside villas. There is a pool, a gym and a sauna, and guests have privileged access to everything at Hôtel Belles Rives, including its private beach and the Valmont Beauty Corner.

Paseo

The restaurant, Paseo, is open to everyone, from morning coffee to dinners that run on. The cooking is sunny and generous, Provençal and Mediterranean, and meant for sharing. The kitchen serves Wednesday to Saturday, 12:00–14:00 and 18:30–21:30, and Sunday lunch; the Sunday brunch returns in spring 2027.
