A name from the resort's beginnings

Le Perroquet has been welcoming diners on the Avenue Georges Gallice for more than a century – long enough to have watched Juan-les-Pins grow from a new seaside resort into a byword for beaches and nightlife. It looks out over the pine wood in the middle of town, and the team behind it brings some thirty years of experience to the kitchen.

French, with a detour to Thailand

The cooking is rooted in French tradition but happily crosses borders: the house likes to say that Provençal basil meets Thai lemongrass here. Everything is made in-house from fresh produce and cooked to order. On a recent set menu, six Burgundy snails in garlic and parsley butter sat beside a chicken tom kha in coconut milk, with courgette-flower fritters, sea bass carpaccio with lime and Granny Smith, and little Niçois stuffed vegetables. Mains ran from seafood risotto to tuna tataki with sweet-potato fries and chicken in satay sauce. The regional tourist board also mentions a homemade fish soup, beef Rossini and grilled sea bass.

How it works

• Open every day, 12:00–14:00 and 19:00–22:00.
• There is an à la carte menu, a set menu and a weekday lunch formula.
• Booking is advised, particularly for dinner and at weekends.
• Cash, bank cards and American Express are accepted; luncheon vouchers and chèques-vacances are not.
• The team also caters for private events within about twenty minutes of Juan-les-Pins, as far as Monaco.
