L'Odyssée – Chez Mô
A family's Mediterranean voyage, served by the Antibes seafront
On the Antibes seafront, Michaël Mô's second restaurant turns a family story into market cooking: grilled whole fish, pasta, risotto and a bouillabaisse worth ordering ahead.
Why VERA picked it
Honest, generous seafood cooking from a family that has fed the Riviera for three generations – the kind of table locals return to between meetings and on Sunday afternoons.
Three generations at the stove
Michaël Mô grew up among cooks. His father, Jean Pierre, ran a restaurant at La Manda in the hills behind Nice, and was himself the son and grandson of food artisans. When the family business had to be sold, Michaël promised himself he would rebuild – and honour his father's name. In 2014 he bought the old Albert 1er in Antibes and renamed it Chez Mô. A decade on, in 2024, a second address came up barely a hundred metres along the shore, and L'Odyssée was born.
A voyage on a plate
The name is a nod to Ulysses and his wanderings around the Mediterranean, and the menu travels the same waters – from the western Mediterranean to the Adriatic. A mural by Michaël's brother Laurent, an artist, dedicated to their father, watches over the dining room.
What to order
The kitchen cooks from the day's market, with a short list of house specialities at its heart:
- Whole wild fish, grilled or baked in a salt crust
- Lobster spaghetti in a creamy tomato sauce made to the chef's own recipe
- Bouillabaisse in two courses, to be ordered 48 hours ahead
- Pasta and risotto, plus daily starters and mains
Desserts are homely in the best sense – tiramisu, chocolate mousse, rice pudding – and there are vegetarian options too.
