A small café with a shaded terrace behind the Garoupe chapel, at the top of the Cap, serving local specialities and French classics beside the lighthouse and the finest viewpoint on the peninsula.

It is the reward at the top of the Chemin du Calvaire: a simple terrace under the pines, next to the chapel and the lighthouse, on the highest ground of the Cap.
At the top of the Cap
The Garoupe plateau is the high point of Cap d'Antibes, some 75 metres above the sea, and you reach it either by road or on foot up the old Chemin du Calvaire. Up here are the lighthouse, the navy semaphore, the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garoupe with its sailors' votive offerings, and a small café tucked behind the chapel: the Bistrot du Curé.
What they serve
The tourist office describes a menu of local and French specialities eaten in the shade of the pine trees. On the local side, pan bagnat and pissaladière, the onion tart of Nice. On the French side, cheeses, foie gras, charcuterie and oysters. It is the food of a long, unhurried lunch rather than a formal meal.

Make a morning of it
Walk up the Calvaire path from La Salis, look in at the restored chapel, then take in the orientation table. On a clear day the view runs from Italy to Cap Camarat, with the Alps to the north, and on an early morning you may even see Corsica. Lunch comes after.
