A cove on the Garoupe

La Plage du Cap sits at 923 Chemin de la Garoupe, in one of the golden coves on the eastern side of the Cap d'Antibes. It is the fourth address from La Clé Group, and the brief was clearly restraint: a light, sun-coloured room that stays out of the way so that the sea and the horizon can do the work.

The grill at the centre

Everything turns on the barbecue. The kitchen cooks Mediterranean-style, with whole grilled fish, seafood and meat seared slowly over the coals. At lunch expect fresh salads, grilled sardines and fish landed that morning and cooked whole. Plates are meant to go into the middle of large tables and be passed around – this is a place for groups and unhurried afternoons rather than a tasting menu.

Sundays

The Sunday brunch is the house's liveliest moment: live music, meat from the grill, bright salads and cocktails, in a deliberately free and easy spirit.
