A beach of its own

Private sand is rare on the Riviera, where most hotels have rocks, decks or a road between them and the sea. The Cap d'Antibes Beach Hotel has the Plage des Pêcheurs, a strip of white-and-pink sand on the west side of the Cap, between Port Gallice and the Port du Crouton. You walk across the lawn of the garden and you are in the water, with the Lérins Islands in front of you.

This is also a beach with a past. Families and night owls have mixed here for decades, and the fish restaurant that became Les Pêcheurs was already an institution in the 1940s, when film stars came to rest among everyone else.

Lunch at BABA

At midday the beach belongs to BABA, the hotel's open-air restaurant and bar, created with chef Assaf Granit. Its Mediterranean cooking travels from Jerusalem, spiced and generous, served around a round bar where the music rises with the afternoon. Lunch runs from noon to four.

Between swims

• Sunbeds under pink parasols, and cocktails from the bar.
• Pedalos for a paddle along the shore.
• A warm infinity pool above the sea, for when the mistral makes the sea choppy.
• A beach boutique with holiday clothes by Hartford in the hotel's colours.
• Backgammon at the bar, and a kids' club for younger guests.
